Objectivity issue[edit]

In my opinion this article sounds like Ruiz´s promo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.195.170.122 (talk) 22:01, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

Honorifics in article title[edit]

I'm reluctant to do this unilaterally (and run the risk of offending religious sensitivities that I probably don't understand), but I suspect this article should be at Miguel Ruiz with the first line reading:

Don Miguel Ruiz...

Like we do for

The Right Honourable Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill...

Hajor 23:49, 18 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Yes, definitely, make it so. RickK 23:56, Aug 18, 2004 (UTC)

I think this would be fine, but I have found from the What Links Here function that there is also a boxer named Miguel Ruiz. I think that having the article named Don Miguel Ruiz, which is the name by which he is usually known, would be a good way to separate those articles. Academic Challenger 22:16, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC)

I'd lean more towards Miguel Ruiz (shaman) and Miguel Ruiz (boxer), but if he does do business and publish as Don Miguel Ruiz then maybe there's a case for moving it back: Don Juan Matus has set that precedent. (I think having the "Don" not bold in the first line is a good way of driving home the fact that it's an honorific, not part of the name.) My apologies, forget I ever spoke, I recuse myself from further consideration of the matter. Hajor 01:58, 20 Aug 2004 (UTC)

There certainly is precedent for including an honorific in an article title. For another example, see U Thant. -- SwissCelt 20:03, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Copyrighted material[edit]

"He went to medical school and was a surgeon until a near-death experience impelled him to seek answers in ancestral traditions of the Toltec in which his mother was a curandera (healer), and his grandfather a nagual (shaman) who, after death, continued to teach Ruiz in his dreams."

This appears to have been lifted directly from the 'about author' sections of his books. Ka'Jong (nsPM) 18:16, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Now removed, verbatim repetition of publisher's blurbs are not appropriate here.--cjllw ʘ TALK 08:41, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Last Name[edit]

Vasquez is not mentioned in his books or at his website, see http://www.miguelruiz.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=2&Itemid=3 . Ka'Jong (nsPM) 18:06, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Formatting of the 5th agreement[edit]

Anyone know how to resume a previous numbered list (or restart numbering at 5?) to format Be Skeptical in the same format as 1-4?--Nonnb (talk) 13:33, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

I fixed it as best as I could using exactly what I'm using right now, the colon (":"). I hope people find it satisfying.

Eagle-Knight lineage[edit]

This sentence was in the article when I found it:

He has handed the Eagle-Knight lineage over to his son Don José Luis.

This didn't make any sense to me, so I searched around and found the Eagle warrior page, which I thought might be helpful. On Google, the eagle knight lineage seems to be a big deal for some people, so I'm not sure if I got it quite right. Any clarification on this would be helpful. --ESP (talk) 15:38, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

[edit]

A large portion of this article reads like a advertisement, added by this anon: [1]

It was probably written by Ruiz or an employee of Ruiz. WP:DUCK

I am attempting to rewrite it.

Fraud[edit]

"Toltec" Carlos Castaneda has been exposed as a fraud. IIRC, Ruiz's "ancient" teachings are also a fabrication. Anyone want to research and document that?--{{U|Elvey}} (tc) 06:59, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

Let's move Miguel Ángel RuizDon Miguel Ruiz – per policy - WP:NAMINGCRITERIA - evidence : article says this is what he goes by, and it's true. There's a redirect, so an admin needs to do the move. Despite #Honorifics_in_article_title, there's been no move so far.{{U|Elvey}} (tc) 06:59, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

(Weird, it's been moved, but there's no record of it in the move log, which is empty. Even after a page reload. The contribs log of the mover, OTOH, shows 4 page moves(!) )--{{U|Elvey}} (tc) 18:57, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
